Supernatural season 14 ratings start low; Station 19 rises with crossover
Thursday night’s new episode, which featured Jensen Ackles going full Michael and a number of fan favorites, ended up generating a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, down a sizable amount from the season 13 premiere. It’s still not a terrible rating by CW standards, but the show probably does need to stay around this level for the remainder of the season for us to feel good about it.
For those wondering, the repeat of the All American premiere matched the actual premiere’s airing with a 0.2. Clearly, The CW believes heavily in this series, but it’s not doing a whole lot just yet to make us incredibly excited about its long-term chances.

Elsewhere, probably the biggest headline is that Station 19 generated one of its best ratings yet in a 1.3, which was generated in part by a crossover storyline that started over on Grey’s Anatomy. It wasn’t necessarily a full-on crossover, but there were enough characters to carry over from one show to the next to make things reasonably interesting.
We also do want to give Law & Order: SVU some credit — while a 0.9 rating in the demo is a lower number than we’re used to seeing from the show, it did still win the 10:00 p.m. Eastern timeslot. We should also point out that SWAT improved slightly to a 0.8 rating, which is a number that has us a little bit more excited when it comes to its future. (Of course, we’ll continue to watch both of these shows; this could be one of the more-interesting ratings battles of the next few months.)
