Why is Keiynan Lonsdale leaving The Flash after season 5 premiere?
So why is the actor leaving both this show and also Legends of Tomorrow? It’s really quite simple and doesn’t have all that much to do with the story — this is simply something that he wants. After being a part of the Arrowverse for a while, Lonsdale wants to move on and try to do some other things. He’s gotten into music as of late and has also taken on some movie work including Love, Simon. We assume that he wants to continue to be able to stretch his wings and try some different things, and that’s not always possible when you are working super-long hours in Vancouver. These are challenging shows that in times have difficult work schedules, and you have to consider that anytime an actor on the show leaves.

Ultimately, remember that the door here is always open for Wally to return at some point down the line, and we wouldn’t be surprised if he did. While there are the occasional actor who leaves the Arrowverse and doesn’t return, we’ve seen a number of other returning people over time. A great example of that is Colton Haynes, who is now a series regular on Arrow season 7 after being a part of the show during some of the earlier years on the series.
For now, Wally West is off finding himself, but eventually he may decide that he has gotten precisely what he was looking for.
