After weeks upon weeks of speculation, we now have an official first look at Ruby Rose as Batwoman.
If you look below, you can get a glimpse of Rose as Kate Kane, who is sporting the signature wig and costume that is famous for many comic fans of this character. This is actually one of the closer recreations of a comic-book character on the small screen that we’ve seen. There are a few differences when it comes to the bloods and a few other minor color-scheme tweaks, but we feel like a part of this may have to do with just making this costume a little more suitable for a small-screen adaptation. We thought at first that having more black and less red would enable her to blend in a little bit more … but then we remembered the wig and how it’s ultimately going to be hard for her to blend in really anywhere while sporting said red wig.

You’re going to have a chance to see Batwoman on the upcoming Arrowverse crossover Elseworlds, which is going to premiere on The CW a little bit later this year. That is meant to eventually lead to the network launching down the road a solo Batwoman show, which will be led by former The Vampire Diaries executive producer Caroline Dries. There’s no specific timetable for that just yet, but it’s clearly something that is going to be a major part of the network’s schedule over the next year or so if anything goes according to plan.
The crossover filming is going to be taking place this month, so more than likely, additional details will be coming out soon.
