‘Shiptober 2018: Timeless (Lucy & Wyatt) vs. Take Two (Sam & Eddie)

It’s a chance to celebrate some of the greatest ‘ships that the TV has to offer, and we’ve got a fun tournament this year to go along with it. Over the course of this month, we’ll be running some ‘Shiptober polls while also discussing what makes some of these couples so great and also sharing some teases / expectations for upcoming episodes! This is a chance to celebrate and discuss great ‘ships while gauging their popularity among readers at the same time. Only one ‘ship will be crowned the victor at the very end!

Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Only one ‘ship will move on to the next round, and we are keeping these polls open until Friday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. The following day, the second round will officially begin. (All of the information needed can be found in the bracket image above.)

In this particular showdown, we have two notable ‘ships from viewers who have passionate online followings … even if the live+same-day ratings for both shows are a little bit challenging. You’ve got Lucy & Wyatt from Timeless facing off here against Sam & Eddie from Take Two.

Lucy & Wyatt, Timeless (#2 seed) – For more than a year now, it’s been clear that Lyatt is one of the series’ signature ‘ships, and for good reason since we’re talking about two people who care about each other deeply and have a shared experience nobody else would ever understand. They are bonded in a close, intimate way, and while they do go through their fair share of drama, they also have a good bit of fun at the same time. For great Lyatt episode, all you need to do is watch the episode “Hollywoodland” from season 2 (or at least the part of it set in the past). Moving into the Timeless movie airing later this year, we do think that there’s a good chance that they will come together in a more permanent way. (or, so we hope.)

Sam & Eddie, Take Two (#7 seed) – This show was an incredibly pleasant surprise this summer as a fun mystery show with good characters and unique stories. The relationship between Rachel Bilson and Eddie Cibrian’s characters started off slow, but by the end of the season it was clear that they were more than just partners in the private-investigator business. They compliment each other well, mostly because they’re willing to call each other out and also carry their own unique skills into every case. Given how season 1 ended with a number of cliffhangers, including Eddie’s arrest, we’re very much interested to see how a season 2 could build on this story and develop the relationship further.
