Lethal Weapon season 3: Damon Wayans Jr. on father’s apparent departure
Damon Jr. also has a new comedy on CBS now in Happy Together, one where he plays one half of a married couple who suddenly finds themselves living with a rock star who moves in to their place. That show was a subject of conversation in a recent interview the actor gave on CBS This Morning, but he was of course asked about Damon Sr.’s recent (very sudden) comments that he was leaving Lethal Weapon later this year:
“I saw the video and I was just like, ‘Dad, that’s bizarre.’ So I don’t know, he might be. I don’t know, if the show goes off the air he might be leaving.”

In the end, we do think that Lethal Weapon season 3 will probably be the end, mostly because it’s really just hard to see the show survive something like losing both of its leads. Even if Damon Sr. changes his mind, the ratings still are not spectacular this season and it would probably take a solid performance throughout just to ensure that it sticks around for a season. There were talks about extended this current season, or at least there were before Damon Sr.’s comments first came out.
As for the fate of Damon Jr.’s new show, we will better understand the fate of Happy Together at some point over the next several months. It’s got a tough timeslot, so we don’t want to get our hopes up too high.
