Bull season 3 episode 3 is one of the most interesting episodes we’ve had a chance to see of the series yet. Why? It mostly has to do with the subject matter that the show is taking on. It’s one thing for the series to do personal cases; it’s another to tackle issues that also just so happen to be very controversial.
On “Excessive Force,” Dr. Jason Bull was hired, effectively, by the government in order to handle a difficult case. This is a case of the police shooting an unarmed individual, and while it’s clear that the victim here is still alive, there are still some demands for justice.

The sneak peek below is all about Bull meeting the victim’s attorney, a prominent civil-rights champion who is doing what she can in order to ensure that incidents like this are not forgotten. His argument to her is fairly simple: Try to come up with a reasonable compromise, given that her client’s injury will not ruin their entire life and the longer the case goes on, the more likely it is that some other trouble is going to spawn out of it. These are the sort of cases that can, understandably, lead to a lot of anger.
Do we think that Bull is being a bit tone-deaf when it comes to the larger issue at hand here? The attorney seems to think so, but we wonder if this is him just taking a particular stance that he needs to for this case. We think he understands the severity of the issue, but also the desire for the people who hired him to have it go away as soon as humanly possible.
