Outlander season 4 premiere screens at New York Comic-Con panel

It’s something that we’ve been telling you to expect for quite some time, and it’s now official: The Outlander season 4 premiere is screening at New York Comic-Con.

Because of the lengthy amount of time in which the panel was set to run for today, it was easy to make the assumption that Starz was going to give the audience a chance to watch the episode before bringing out Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, Ronald D. Moore, and Maril Davis for the discussion. This is very similar to what they did back at San Diego Comic-Con last year.

So what is the benefit for Starz doing this very thing? Well, a lot of it stems from getting immediate buzz and feedback from the audience. We also do think that there is a lot of excitement that comes the cast’s way getting to feed off of the energy of a really large audience. How many opportunities do they get to be a part of something like this? Not many, and that really is a big reason why it is so special.

In the end, though, Starz likely doesn’t get too granular in their reasoning for screening premieres at panels. They mostly just see it as a nice gift to the fans for all their constant support; since they know that these are fans who are going to buy the network and watch new episodes the rest of the year, they are less worried about spoilers getting out for a single episode. Maybe they’d be more concerned if this show wasn’t based on a book.
