American Gods season 2 trailer: Are you ready for holy war?

American Gods season 2 premiere date

Earlier today while at New York Comic-Con, the fine folks over at Starz unleashed a first look at American Gods season 2 via a new trailer.

How would we describe that? Well, with one word more so than any other: Intense. This was a dramatic, action-packed look at the new batch of episodes, one that promises to contain a wide array of interesting, dramatic turns. It definitely does think that there were a wide array of headlines behind the scenes. We’ve seen multiple showrunners, the departure of Gillian Anderson, and a number of other notable headlines over the past year or so, but it does feel like the series is emerging on the other side with a visually-stunning story that is hopefully going to ask many of the same questions as season 1 — at least in terms of faith, trust, and really just intrigue as a whole. This is a series that has always had some really ambitious, lofty, expectations, and this is a chance to see if the new iteration can live up to them.

Perhaps the biggest reason to hope for season 2 comes via the cast, as Ricky Whittle is all sorts of fantastic and makes for a perfect Shadow Moon. Meanwhile, Emily Browning was one of the biggest breakout stars of last year for us and it’s hard to go wrong with many of the other people across the board.

Now, if only there was a precise premiere date beyond just 2019, we’d start to feel even happier here. At least the veil is starting to get lifted a little bit here after there was so many questions and uncertainty on the show’s future for a while.

As a feast for the senses, we do at least think that the promotional campaign for season 2 is off to a tremendous start.
