Outlander season 4: Check out live PaleyFest panel headlines!

Outlander

Today is a huge one for all fans of Outlander — Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Sophie Skelton, and Richard Rankin are at PaleyFest! The four actors are going to be taking part in an upcoming panel discussion about what lies ahead, with probably a few interesting teases along the way.

We’ve already posted some information regarding just how to watch the event live (you can check that out over here); the primary purpose of this particular update is to give you a little bit more in the way of scoop from the panel as it happens! Be sure to refresh the page, as more will be added as the event goes along.

7:12 p.m. Eastern time – The panel is here! Maril Davis, Ronald D. Moore, Richard Rankin, Sophie Skelton, Sam Heughan, and Caitriona Balfe were all introduced in this particular order to very nice (and very polite) cheers. It took about 30 seconds for the first “hi Sam” to come from the audience.

7:21 – The cast played a rather lively game of superlatives where the person named had to take a drink. By the end of it Rankin’s name was called so much that had he not been careful, he could have been blackout drunk. Following, the audience saw a sneak peek — which was not shown to the public.

7:27 – The panel has a lively discussion about the setting and what the characters go through — including just how much they think about the future and how they approach their life somewhat differently in America. As Heughan and Balfe discuss, Jamie and Claire know each other better — because of that, they feel very differently in terms of the relationship.

7:33 – Skelton discusses what her character is up to, and how her character is trying to detach herself from some of what she went through last season. Yet, at the same time she is trying to understand what her relationship is with Roger.

7:37 – There was a Roger / Bree clip shown for the audience. Alas, no tease here.

7:40 – There was a brief conversation about Ed Speleers’ Stephen Bonnet, a character who got boos from the audience. Meanwhile, there was also a few mentions about Aunt Jocasta and her butting heads with Claire over the course of the story.

7:47 – Davis discusses casting First Nations people in Canada to play Native Americans on the show. Matthew B. Roberts met with a Cherokee leader in hopes of getting the culture and material right. They did not use Native American actors due to SAG rules.

7:53 – The cast goes through some of the major themes for all of their stories moving forward, without giving away too much. Heughan, for example, talks about becoming the Laird this season that he’s always wanted to be … but that things also go wrong quite quickly. Balfe discussed how she got a chance to really explore a different side of Claire, one that was more nurturing and quieter.

Remember of course that Outlander season 4 will premiere on Starz come Sunday, November 4.
