ABC’s The Conners has cast yet another notable name on the upcoming season, and this one is very familiar to longtime comedy fans in Justin Long.
According to a new report coming in right now via TVLine, the recent New Girl actor is going to be playing the part of Neil on the series. He will be a recurring player on the upcoming season, which means that he will probably pop in here and there throughout the upcoming season. There isn’t a whole lot of additional information about the role just yet, but any romance on The Conners is likely going to be funny and will have a great deal of comedy to it.
Long is far from the only notable name who is taking part in the revival, as we will also be getting appearances from the likes of Steve Zahn, Juliette Lewis, and a return for Johnny Galecki as Darlene’s ex David. We do wonder if Galecki could appear more in the event that The Conners is renewed, given the fact that his time as Leonard on The Big Bang Theory is coming to a close.
The appeal for a show like The Conners at the moment is simply that this is a chance to appear on a show that may deliver some enormous ratings following the premiere. Beyond just that, this is also a show with a huge comedy legacy and a number of notable names. It remains to be seen whether or not the success of The Conners will end up being precisely the hit that some are hoping it will be, but clearly, ABC and the producers are currently banking on it being big. The same goes for the guest stars signing on the dotted line.
The series premiere of The Conners is set to air on ABC come Tuesday, October 16 — we’ll have more news leading up to the premiere.
