Blue Bloods season 9 episode 2 sneak peek: Jamie breaks the news to Eddie
Admittedly, we had a great deal of concern going into this week’s episode based on what happened in the premiere. Jamie officially found himself promoted to Sergeant after passing the exam, and that means that he will no longer be able to ride with Eddie as he once did. Beyond that, he’s being shipped over now to a new district, which is the subject of the sneak peek that we have for you below. He tells Eddie that he’s being transferred to the 2-9, a decision that is seemingly not one of his own.
In Eddie’s words, he better watch out over there — this place is a “real zoo.” That could mean more crime, or it may just mean that the precinct itself is dysfunctional and may need someone like Jamie to come in and start to clean up the joint. (The episode’s title is “Meet the New Boss” — doesn’t that feel like the perfect reference to Jamie’s promotion?)
For those who do crave every Jamko moment possible, there is a small-but-sweet one at the end of this promo where she tells him he looks good in stripes. There’s a desire to see more affection between these two characters, but it remains understandable why the producers aren’t pushing for that too much. For one, Jamie and Eddie are at work in this preview; meanwhile, the other time we’ve seen them, they were around his family. If the writers want us to see them being more affectionate, they need to put them in scenes where they can act more like an engaged couple rather than colleagues or Eddie nervously trying to navigate the complicated Reagan family dinner dynamic. If the 2-9 is a “zoo,” the family dinner table can be equivalent to being thrown into the Serengeti on the cusp of a wildebeest stampede.
