Last Man Standing season 7 episode 4 spoilers: The foreign exchange student story

Last Man Standing

Earlier this year, we heard that Last Man Standing was going to offer a story that was about a foreign exchange student — and we now know that it will be coming on season 7 episode 4. This is an opportunity for Mike and Vanessa to pay their parenting forward and bring in someone that they feel like they can really help. Beyond that, it’s also a chance to see if there is an interesting culture clash that comes via a young Chinese woman surrounding by the Baxters. We know that the Baxters will open their doors to anyone, but there will certainly still be differences that come clear over time.

For more on what’s happening in this episode, the Last Man Standing season 7 episode 4 synopsis offers up some more news:

When Vanessa wants to board a foreign exchange student, Mike must work overtime to impress her father. Meanwhile Kristen and Ryan try to remain cool when Boyd invites a girl over in the all-new “One Flew Into the Empty Nest” episode of LAST MAN STANDING airing Friday, Oct. 19 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (LMS-704) (TV-14 D, L, V)

We think that the title for this episode is really all of the evidence you need as to why Mike and Vanessa are welcoming in a foreign exchange student. They’ve lived so much of their lives being parents and without some of their kids at home, it may be difficult for them to get used to what is effectively a new normal for them. They want to find a way to still be loving parents to all three of their daughters, but they have room for someone else. For Kristen and Ryan, meanwhile, they are going to discover what it is like to be parents within a different phase of their own lives — one that could change Boyd dramatically.
