Hawaii Five-0 season 9 premiere video: McGarrett’s relationship status
In the sneak peek below from Friday’s new episode, Danny confirms that Steve and Lynn are no more, and that Steve is apparently the one who initiated the breakup. We’ve wondered about the state of this relationship for some time, mostly because we haven’t seen Lynn on the series in more than a year. In a sense, we do understand the shift away from most of McGarrett’s love life in general — it has a tendency to be polarizing. The sentiment many fans feel towards Catherine is a good bit of evidence of that — some love that relationship, and others cannot stand it at all.

Anyhow, Steve’s single status in the sneak peek is important because of what lies ahead on the premiere episode. After an old CIA friend of his is killed, he takes on a risky case — and through his work on it, he eventually runs into an ex of his in Greer (Rochelle Aytes, Mistresses). How close were they, really? Danny seems to think that they were just a one-night stand, but Steve makes it clear that there was something more there between the two of them. As for how deep their relationship actually was, that remains to be seen … but the same also goes for whether or not Greer is the sort of character we can actually really trust. She may have some secrets of her own and it’s certainly been a long time since Steve actually knew her.
More so than the content of the sneak peek itself, this is just a thrill to watch since the relationship between Steve and Danny since this is really the heart of the show.
