Big Brother 20 episode 39 review: Recaps and tears

Big brother 20

Big Brother 20 episode 39 basically was a lengthy highlight reel. This is the same thing we get every Sunday before the finale, and typically, it’s not altogether interesting.

Apparently, Big Brother decided that bringing on board Big Jeff Schroeder was the right move to make things a little bit more entertaining. (Narrator: It didn’t.) Jeff was basically just there to set up stories for various segments featuring some eliminated houseguests. Most of this was footage that we’ve seen before, but there was some new TV-only material in here including some of Swaggy C and Bayleigh, Sam threatening to leave in the Diary Room, and Sam freaking out about JC throwing competitions.

We did get to see a crying Diary Room montage, but we wish we got to see more bloopers and silly moments in there. We would’ve preferred that to a lengthy showmance segment or just things that we’ve seen a number of times already this season.

What this episode did remind us of was this: There was a time earlier this season when we really considered it one of the best editions of Big Brother in many years. The pre-jury part of the game was phenomenal and really up to Faysal’s eviction, it still had some gas left in the tank. Unfortunately, it’s gone downhill a little since then. We’d still take it over season 19 or 18, but 17 may be a better season overall just because the amount of drama and effort Vanessa put into almost every single moment on the show.

Overall…

We suppose that this was a pretty good way to spend the evening … at least if you’re not watching anything else. Much of this was rinse-and-repeat, but at least we got some reminders of how good this season was at one point.
