Empire season 5 video: Is a major character set to die?
In this preview, you see a fairly ominous coffin alongside many of the cast members fake-speculating as to who could be in it — after all, they’re all very familiar at this point, but they gotta keep their tease game strong!
So who is the person in that casket? There are a number of strong candidates to think about here, but Hakeem and Blake have to be the strongest contenders based on our gut right now — though, at the same time we don’t know if Empire is going to really write out a character this big in a premiere. It would be a big way to shake things up, but also potentially cause some fan revolts in the process. (We suppose that the body could be Anika’s and the entire cast is just trolling us, but at this point that just feels especially cruel, all things considered.)
We don’t imagine that Empire will keep you waiting all that long after the premiere in order to give us some answers, but who knows? Maybe this is something they try to keep under wraps for as long as they possibly can and this teaser is giving us the long game.
Ultimately, the big conclusion you can draw here is that this Empire preview is really just giving you more questions than answers — the goal is to get you to watch, and we suppose from that perspective, this is absolutely more than successful. Empire premieres in just one week, so in the end, you don’t have to wait all that long at all.
