America’s Got Talent season 14: Premiere date hopes, audition info, and more

America's Got Talent

What’s coming up on America’s Got Talent season 14? There’s a lot to be excited about here, especially since it still feels like this show is in its prime.

The first thing that we should note here is that it’s obvious this show will be back for another season. This is something that has been in many different ways a given. This is one of the biggest shows of the summer and it’s especially lucrative when it comes to social-media traffic and views. It’s a global success story at this point and we do think that it is actually earning its name as the biggest global talent show out there.

More than likely, season 14 of America’s Got Talent will likely premiere come late May or early June 2019. That’s a long time to wait, but there is a spin-off show coming early next year entitled America’s Got Talent: The Champions, which is going to be all about some of the most-popular acts both in the American version — plus ones from overseas. This is going to be really fun, and if nothing else a nice diversion at a time of the year when there isn’t all that much happening.

So what needs to change for next season? We don’t really think all that much, given that the structure of the show works really well now. We like the Judge Cuts part of the competition just as much as the other rounds, the Golden Buzzer really changed the game for most of the process, and while not perfect, the judging panel works and it’s not really worth upsetting the chemistry. If there are two things we’d change, we’d say they are as follows.

1. Try to offer explanations for acts who disappeared between various rounds – French Accent and Annaliese Nock are two examples this year of acts who weren’t featured in Judge Cuts despite making it through auditions. Can someone better explain these in the future?

2. Better Golden Buzzer editing – Don’t just have them at the end of the audition shows. It ruins the drama!
