Law & Order: SVU season 20 premiere video: The story of Sam
In the new clip, you can see an introduction to a case about a young man named Sam, someone who has seemingly went through something horrific. Yet, there are still some questions out there revolving around why exactly it happened and also what Sam’s motive was before the incident. At the hospital, Carisi was told by the boy that he “needed it to happen.” That leads to Rollins speculating that he was experimenting sexually, and then Benson suggesting that he may have had some sort of encounter with a predator in upstate New York.
No matter what transpires in this premiere, the one thing that we expect to see more so than anything else is a case that will test these characters, and also one that picks up some important threads from the finale. Remember here that at the end of this past season, we saw Peter Stone’s sister die and he may still be grappling with that. We also may get a relationship update from Rollins in the early going and we certainly hope that when it comes to Benson that there is some sort of substantial update when it comes how things are with her and Noah. There’s plenty of time to touch on possible relationships with her down the road but we do think, at least for now, that Noah needs to be at the center of most of her stories.
SVU is going to premiere with a two-hour installment on Thursday, September 27 on NBC.
