Will Moriarty return for Elementary season 7? We certainly know that this is a question many people have been wondering for a while.
With that, we are pleased to report on some very-good news that such an appearance is at least possible — though far from confirmed. While answering questions following the season 6 finale on Monday night, executive producer Rob Doherty was fairly cryptic on the subject of seeing Jamie at least one more time in the flesh on the series.
Of course, we feel like Doherty and the writers have long wanted to include as much Moriarty in the series as possible, and it’s never really been up to them in order to make it happen. Instead, the larger issue here has just been finding a way to have it happen given the schedule of one Natalie Dormer, who has long been busy with other projects whether it be as an actor or a writer. Even though she has been done with both Game of Thrones and The Hunger Games for a while, she has been working on a number of other films and not all of them have been located anywhere near where Elementary films in New York.
Yet, the good news here is that Dormer has also expressed an interest in coming back, which we imagine has to be appealing given that Moriarty is one of the most-infamous characters within the Sherlock Holmes world. The writers have long been honest with viewers about whether or not we could see Moriarty again, and haven’t tried to create false hope where there is none. With that, we have to assume that there is at least some effort being made — whether or not it happens remains to be seen, but we’d love to have potentially a two or three-episode arc with her before the end of the series. That’s especially the case if season 7 turns out to be the final one. That’s not entirely clear at the moment, but we are at least reasonably aware of that possibility.
