This Is Us season 3: Sterling K. Brown, Milo Ventimiglia tease stories at Emmys

As we await the premiere of This Is Us season 3 in just over one week’s time, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown were kind enough to hand down some new teases! The actors were both on the red carpet prior to the start of the Emmys, and in speaking to E!, they each gave us some more insight as to what lies ahead.

For Ventimiglia, he made it clear that this upcoming season was one where the innocence of new love would contrast strongly against the harsh reality of war, as we venture back into the most dangerous time of his life (prior, of course, to his tragic death):

“…We go back to a younger Jack, in war time, in the Vietnam War, [but we also] see budding love between Jack and Rebecca … We get to know more about the Pearsons and the family dynamic.”

As for the story of another notable character in Randall, Sterling K. Brown revealed that there would be an opportunity to explore something new when it comes to a career for his character:

“There’s a possible new career opportunity that is on the horizon … [Beyond that, we’re exploring the] relationship with Deja and folding her into the family, [however] that goes.”

There is going to be some major drama with Randall and Beth, as the two go through a rough patch in their marriage. Brown insists that the two aren’t going to be splitting up, but through season 3 you are going to see them go through one of the hardest periods of their relationship to date. We know that Deja has already put a strain on their relationship, so we cannot say that we’re altogether shocked that they would find themselves in some trouble.
