The Last Ship season 5 episode 3 preview: Can Chandler build a bridge?

The Last Ship season 4 episode 3

Moving into The Last Ship season 5 episode 3, it’s important to remember that there are many different ways to stop a war. Sometimes, you do need to charge in to kick some butt and take some names; however, there are other occasions in which diplomacy can work. Going into next Sunday’s new episode, that’s going to be a top priority. Chandler and the rest of his team are going to try what they can to talk things out in order to build a bridge between countries — that’s why this episode is likely titled “El Puente,” which translates to mean “The Bridge.” Gustavo is clearly the real threat here, and if Chandler can get other nations to realize this and that the United States is innocent, everyone will be in much better shape in the end.

Below, The Last Ship season 5 episode 3 synopsis offers up some more information when it comes to what lies ahead:

With nations being rapidly occupied, Chandler tries his hand at diplomacy to unite two hostile countries so they can fight a common enemy.

Chandler is a practical man — he’s not a war-monger and he doesn’t love violence for the sake of violence. That is why he’s not going to go somewhere guns a-blazing hoping that this gets the job done. It’s probably better to find another way to stop Gustavo — while there will probably be bloodshed either way, outnumbering his opponent is probably the best way to ensure a surrender that doesn’t cost America too many lives.

It’s already clear that this is one of the strongest seasons of The Last Ship to date creatively, and with that, the next order of business is mostly seeing if everyone can keep it up.
