NCIS season 16 spoilers: On Kasie’s status, a notable setting

NCIS season 16

What lies ahead on NCIS season 16? There are a number of different things, whether it be cliffhanger resolution, an eventual time jump, or an opportunity to see characters trying new things.

One thing that is clear at the moment relates to new character Kasie Hines; after all, it doesn’t seem as though Diona Reasonover’s character will be immediately brought on as a full-time team member, even if she is billed as a series regular.

Speaking in a new interview via TV Insider, executive producer Frank Fradea noted that Kasie is still “a temporary employee … Around Episode 4 or 5, she becomes permanent.”

There’s going to be a transitional period in which all of the characters start to get to know Kasie a little bit better, and on the other side of that, maybe everyone will start to feel like she’s a natural part of the family. It does feel like she is already on her way, given that the bulk of the characters on the series seem to like her and enjoy having her around. She’s got a different personality than Abby, but she is rather skilled at what she does and we feel like she’ll only get stronger as time goes by. Abby will be missed, but it does feel like we’ve got a worthy addition.

Also this season, you will see an episode filmed at Naval Air Station Point Mugu, which is located in between Los Angeles and Oxnard. Whether or not the characters are specifically there themselves remains to be seen … if they were, it would feel like a perfect NCIS: Los Angeles crossover (even if we haven’t heard that any such thing suggesting it will come about.)

NCIS season 16 premieres on CBS come September 25; rest assured, we’ll have plenty more coverage leading up to it.
