Bodyguard episode 5 expectations: David’s new purpose
At one point in episode 4, it seemed as though he was ready to give up and take everything away. He had failed in his mind at his job and with that, he lost his sense of who he was. Julia was dead and, were it not for dummy bullets, he would have taken his own life.
After seeing his children, though, and taking the time to ponder it over, David now seems ready to fight back — and he also knows that there is a conspiracy here that runs deep. Someone within the government not only apparently wanted to see Julia dead, but in the process of that make sure that he was unable to retaliate. How else do you explain the trade-off when it comes to his bullets? That’s one thing that you are left to think about at the moment, and the other is precisely who in the government authorized it. Whatever happened here had to be fairly high up on the food chain, given that they were able to have important advisers be able to transport dangerous materials without questioning.
Here is the unfortunate problem for David: Because of his history of PTSD, it is going to be hard for him to get anyone to believe in him. To go along with that further, he also has to deal with the fact that revelations about his personal relationship with Julia are about to come to light. The moment that happens, it automatically becomes infinitely harder to get anyone to see things your way. It’s crummy that this is the situation that we’re inching towards, but it’s hard to see how he is going to escape being perceived almost like the boy who cried wolf … even though it is starting to seem more and more as though he is correct.
There are only two more episodes to go on Bodyguard this season, so be prepared for some more shocking revelations to come to light.
