Elementary season 6 finale video: The quest to save Joan Watson
This episode is going to be largely about one question: Is Joan Watson really a murderer? Did she actually do away with Michael herself? We certainly do think that the motive is there, since Michael is a horrible human being who was seemingly ready to do, in turn, some horrible things to her. If Watson felt she had to kill him, would Sherlock really be all that upset about it? It would certainly complicate things, but he would always choose Joan’s survival over Michael doing something to her.
Yet, the way in which everything that unfolded, with secrets and the body being uncovered, is what creates some suspicion — and also what’s putting Joan in hot water. Sherlock asks her point-blank in the promo if she is responsible for killing Michael, and you don’t see her answer.
Personally, we think that whatever is really going on here is far more complicated than it appears on the surface. Elementary is not going to be the sort of show that is going to make the answers altogether apparent. It will force you to fight and think about them for a while first. Maybe this was Michael’s way of taking himself out of the equation, thinking that in the process, he could find another way to torment Sherlock. Why not just go ahead and do something to take a person he loves away from her? Absolutely, this is something worth pondering about.
More so than anything, what we’re really hoping for at the moment is that this finale does offer up some sort of sense of closure.
