America’s Got Talent finalist spotlight: Could Michael Ketterer be the winner?

Leading up to the America’s Got Talent finale, we see the grand prize being a race between three different people: Shin Lim, Courtney Hadwin, and the subject of our finalist spotlight today in Michael Ketterer. He’s a great singer, but his time on the show can be defined as something more than that. He’s also a great guy who has taken on many sacrifices in his life as he works to be the best father that he can.

The moment that we heard Michael’s live-show performance, and the moment we saw Simon Cowell cry as a result of it, we knew that we had a potential juggernaut on our hands here. Now, it just comes down to if he can replicate his success one more time.

While being a great singer is obviously important if you are going to be coming on the show, there’s another component that is equally important: Being able to endear yourself to the audience. You have to be vulnerable, real, and bring the viewers into your world. They have to care about what you’re singing and from start to finish this season, we’ve seen Michael deliver that in spades. There’s never been any question as to whether or not he can connect to an audience.

Certainly another thing that Michael has going in his favor is being the Golden Buzzer choice of Simon Cowell, who has certainly fared well with his selections on both this show and Britain’s Got Talent — even if they are not always the winner.

What are his winner odds?

Michael has a chance at this, but it’s going to depend heavily on a few different things starting with song choice first and foremost — this could be the thing that makes or breaks him, since he needs to be able to have something that the audience gets behind. Another factor here is placement within the show, and then there’s also the performances of his competition. While we don’t think Michael is necessarily the odds-on favorite to win entering the performance show on Tuesday, there’s a chance for him to get there — if he can deliver his best vocal of the season and really connect to viewers, those winner odds can still accelerate.
