Do Take Two finale ratings bolster season 2 renewal odds at ABC?

The first Take Two finale ratings are in over at ABC, and they do offer a little bit of hope when it comes to the series’ future — even if nothing is assured just yet.

Thursday night’s new episode — which contained many exciting cliffhangers — ended up generating a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and also 2.94 million viewers. These are the best numbers that the Eddie Cibrian – Rachel Bilson series drew in the past month, and we do think that they’re probably making the decision for the network all the more difficult. The show generated the same demo rating for the finale that it did for the premiere, which is pretty rare in this era of viewer erosion.

When you look at the Take Two ratings across the entire season, one of the biggest takeaways that we have from it is that it had a largely-stable fan following from start to finish, and that bodes well for the future if word-of-mouth can spread and viewers catch up over the hiatus. It overcame a lot of problems throughout the summer, including some NFL preemptions plus also airing against two regular-season games the past couple of weeks. Also, it’s had a pretty terrible lead-in for most of the season  due ABC’s game-show lineup. Had they been given it a better spot, we do think the show could’ve easily averaged a 0.6 or 0.7.

Hopefully, there will be some good news over the next few weeks — rest assured, we’ll have more news the moment some is available. For now, the biggest advice we can offer you if you love Take Two is continue to recommend it to friends. The more delayed viewing that the series gets at this point, the more potentially-lucrative its future is.
