Queen of the South season 4 renewal: Will it happen at USA, and why the wait?
We should start things off here by making it very clear that we are truly shocked that this show has not been renewed yet. After all, this is one of their more-successful summer shows and it does fairly well without getting a ton of promotion.
For more proof of that, just take a look at the latest ratings. Season 3 averaged overall a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and to go along with that, a rather-impressive-for-cable total of 1.12 million viewers. These are declines of less than 5% from the season 2 averages and that level of retention year to year is rare. This is a show that has a very devoted audience, and remember to go along with this that we’re speaking only about live ratings — there is, after all, a larger audience that extends beyond just this live viewership.

Ultimately, maybe this is a situation where USA wanted to see the remainder of the season out before making the announcement official — we have a hard time thinking that season 3 is the end. USA also hasn’t felt any urgency to make the announcement just yet when they probably knew that they could make the announcement after the finale and everyone would be more than fine.
While we recognize that anything can still happen, for now we’d say to enter the season 3 finale with a relative sense of confidence that you are going to see the series back for more. It’s hard to really anticipate anything else.
