The Last Kingdom season 3: What’s the holdup on release date?

The Last Kingdom

Where is The Last Kingdom season 3? If you go on Twitter and look for information on the show, you’ll soon realize that it is dominated by questions on this very thing.

In some ways, this is a good problem to have in that it shows that there’s a significant demand for your product. It’s pretty clear that people want more of The Last Kingdom, but the hard part is just waiting around for a season that has technically already premiered.

For a streaming service like Netflix, we think that one of the main factors that goes within their decision-making is timing and figuring out the right time in which to put the show on the air. For example, they may not want to premiere a series with this many epic components to it right in the midst of summer-movie season, or also up against a number of other big TV premieres the next month or so. Their goal potentially here is to make sure that it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle.

This is, to us, why a premiere in mid-October to early November makes sense. You are putting out out there with less competition and beyond that, you are putting out there at a time when temperatures are cooling off and more viewers will be interested in checking out live programming. If this can help the show get renewed for another season, then you better believe that we are all for it. At this point, it does actually feel like a given that we’re waiting at least one more month, if not longer — Netflix usually reveals their premiere dates at least a month in advance, since you want to give some of your viewers a chance to really build up to some of the excitement.
