Law & Order: SVU season 20: Chicago Fire alum Monica Raymund to direct

Even though Monica Raymund may be done as a series regular on Chicago Fire, she is sticking around within the Dick Wolf world.

According to a new report from TVLine, Raymund is poised to direct the eighth episode of Law & Order: SVU, which will presumably air later this fall. This marks Raymund’s television directing debut, and we are certainly excited to see what she does here. What this gig to us represents is that she’s very much on good terms when it comes to Wolf and the entire SVU / One Chicago community, which means that she could be involved again in the future … though we haven’t heard anything about a Dawson return at any point in the near future.

As for what else we know at the moment about SVU season 20, we know that Dylan Walsh and Sandrine Holt are both going to appear in some important characters. We’re also going to see the romantic lives of at least a couple of characters explored a little bit more … while also still giving us an opportunity to see more of the same sort of dramatic cases that you’ve come to expect on the series over time. There is the aforementioned Hate Crimes spin-off being plotted, but it is a little bit too early to say something definitive about that — at least for the time being. We think that will mostly just be an extension of the larger world rather than any distraction.

New episodes of SVU is going to premiere on NBC on Thursday, September 27, where it is going to be airing in a new timeslot at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.
