Veronica Mars – Hulu revival could start filming later this fall

If you’ve been curious about the Veronica Mars revival on Hulu, signs point to it happening. Not only that, but it could film soon!

According to a new report that is coming is right now via TVLine, production on the eight-episode Kristen Bell series could kick off in late October. This would allow Bell the opportunity to continue her work on The Good Place before transitioning over to the series that made her a popular star in the first place.

For those wondering, show creator Rob Thomas is back on board, and to go along with it Diane Ruggiero-Wright and Dan Etheridge are both going to be back as executive producers. As for the cast, we do know that Enrico Colantoni is expected to return as Veronica’s father Keith, as the two are going to work together to figure out what’s happening with a serial killer roaming through Neptune and causing all sorts of chaos. The two are also going to have a potentially-adversarial relationship with the local sheriff. The series is looking to cast an African-American actress in her fifties for this role.

There is no confirmed premiere date for Veronica Mars (do we call this season 4?) just yet, but at the moment our feeling is that it could premiere as early as the summer of next year. One of the things that is beneficial about Hulu, in comparison to Netflix and Amazon, is that they often rely on a weekly release model rather than one that favors binge-watching. This means that the entire season doesn’t have to be ready at the time of the premiere and they can start putting out episodes a little bit earlier — if they want to. One way or another, a 2019 release for the new Veronica Mars seems likely.

Ultimately, be thankful for The Good Place doing only 13 episodes a season. That model allows Bell and the rest of the cast time to work on some other projects during their off months.
