Outlander season 4 photo: A look at Claire the healer
This image showcases Claire quickly establishing what one of her prominent roles could be in America after she and Jamie start to get established — that of a healer. Delivering babies is a part of the job, and the good news here is that this particular baby seems to be happy. This is the sort of scene that certainly means more to book readers than it does show fans only, but we do think that there’s some value here either way. Basically, it’s a reminder that Claire is not going to have to look hard to find a particular position of purpose in the New World. While she’s never had an adventure in the past when it comes to understanding the people or some of their specific plights, she has long been able to put her skills to use. Being a healer has enabled her to ingratiate herself more into communities and maintain a status. She’s always going to be valuable to many more people beyond just Jamie — though that doesn’t mean that everyone is always going to be kind to her.

If there’s one thing we object to, it’s this: Why did the social team have to use “stan” in their description? It had a decided “how do you do, fellow kids?” feel to it.
Anyhow, we’re glad that Starz is continuing to give us new photos and teasers of what’s ahead. It gives us another opportunity to understand the world that the producers created for season 4, which is going to look and feel very different than any before it. That is certainly what’s going to happen when you move the setting to America and meet a number of new characters along the way.
