Shameless season 9 episode 2 preview: Fiona makes a big play

Want to know what lies ahead on Shameless season 9 episode 2? Let’s start with Fiona doing everything that she can to move forward in her career and take another step. She really wants to find some success in the larger business world, and this is really her last opportunity to do that through at least the lens of the show. After that, the character’s going to be moving on.

This episode is going to feature some tension between Ford and Fiona, but also Frank figuring out that his next big scheme could be in the political world — which shouldn’t come as a shock since he’ll find any way to sucker people out of cash. We’re just not sure how he is going to make this work given that his lack of public service should be found out quickly … and this is also the sort of thing that could get him arrested.

Below, the Shameless season 9 episode 2 synopsis offers up some more news when it comes to what lies ahead:

Fiona makes a play for a risky investment opportunity, ignoring Ford’s advice. Frank discovers the financial incentives of local politics. Carl bolsters his West Point application in unexpected ways. Debbie struggles to find allies in her battle against sexual harassment. Ian is overwhelmed by the growth of the Gay Jesus movement. Kev and V try to find the perfect preschool for the twins.

This episode is going to be a fun one at times (see Frank), but it’s clear that there are some serious topics discussed here. Take, for example, Debbie having to deal with harassment, potentially in the workplace, and really, we could see Fiona having to face sexism in her own way just because there are a lot of misogynistic people in business. For Ian, we just wonder how much is too much with Gay Jesus.
