The Resident season 2 teaser hypes up Conrad – Dr. Bell rivalry

The Resident

As you prepare for The Resident season 2 to premiere on Fox come Monday, September 24, it’s clear what Fox wants you thinking about.

Take, for example, the back-and-forth with Dr. Conrad Hawkins and Randolph Bell. At the moment, it feels pretty darn clear that there is no love lost between the two and that they’re not going to be the best of friends at any point in the near future. Dr. Bell was magnificent at what he did for many years, but at this point it’s clear that he’s broken. For starters, he has the tremor that keeps him from being able to operate as he once did. Beyond this, there is another clear problem — he’s very set in his ways. His definitions of medicine are not quite the same as they were back when he first started. He may help to get patients better, but he doesn’t go beyond that. He doesn’t really care about them as people anymore, and this is one of many reasons why he and Conrad butt heads.

Moving into season 2, we do think that the feud between these two men will be as prevalent as it has ever been. Dr. Bell isn’t backing down from his belief that medicine is a business, but the one thing that is going to make things a little bit different moving forward is that Conrad’s own father may be help running things at Chastain on the business end. Just how much is he going to try to puppet the situation between these two men? Let’s just say that, at the moment, it’s certainly something that we have to consider a distinct possibility. It’s really hard not to.

Of course, we do also think that there will be a time when the two realize that they are better off working together. They’ve done this before and we certainly think that they will do it again — they may just not be all that happy about it.
