Is Sharp Objects new tonight on HBO? What we’re set to miss
Unfortunately, there is no more of the Amy Adams series — effectively, now or ever. There is no new episode airing tonight, and there isn’t going to be a new episode airing at any point down the road either. This is in part because this was always meant to be a limited series. There were no plans for a season 2, and the show itself was destined to only run for a fairly limited period of time.
Given that the show is done, we now have nothing left to do other than to look ahead and try to answer the following question instead: What should some fans of this show have to look forward to?
Basically, there are two shows coming up early next year that any fan of Sharp Objects can be excited for — True Detective season 3 and then also Big Little Lies season 2. All three of these shows, after all, do share some common elements.
Great performances – While we know that True Detective season 2 was far from great, at the same time both seasons of it have been anchored by some really good actors. These shows feature everyone from Mahershala Ali to Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman. There is a lot to like here and from an acting standpoint, quite a bit to look forward to.
A great mystery – Effectively, all of these shows rely on this in some shape or form — though Big Little Lies wasn’t exactly structured in the same sort of way. These are shows that make you ask questions about mortality and the effects of death on the human condition. We don’t see that changing.
