The Last Ship season 5 premiere video: How chaos begins

Last Ship season 5 episode 1

Are you ready for The Last Ship season 5 to arrive? The new batch of episodes is slated to start airing on TNT when we get around to Sunday, September 9, and that’s just eight days away! On the other side of Labor Day Weekend, Tom Chandler and the crew from the Nathan James are going to be back in action.

Just in case you can’t wait until then to see some footage from the premiere, we’ve got that below! The new video (via Entertainment Weekly) gives you a sense that, at least at point in the premiere, there is going to be some peace in America. Tom Chandler is going to do his best to help shepherd the new Navy … but, of course, something is going wrong because something almost always goes wrong within this world. It never seems so easy that these characters can just breathe easy and continue their lives as they once could.

The danger that seems to be present in this sneak peek revolves around a man who plugs in a flash drive, one that seems to be destroying and manipulating all televised footage. This could be a tool to eventually spread misinformation, something that could cause enough paranoia and fear that it leads to the next World War. The stakes are high entering the final season, and we think that the writers were thinking about the modern-day climate when plotting out this final season.

Think of the premiere as a drop in the ocean, or a foundation for some of the shocking, super-intense stuff that is coming the rest of the season. Maybe there will be peace again at the very end of the season … but we do think that the producers are going to make you wait for it.
