America’s Got Talent semifinals: Front Pictures named wild-card act (again)

America's Got Talent

America’s Got Talent has officially named its wild-card act for the semi-finals, and it feels fair to say that we’re shocked. Front Pictures, for the second straight round, is coming back in this spot!

This weekend, the video-projection act confirmed that they will be coming back to compete for a second straight time, which on one level we understand. They weren’t eliminated the first time because of anything the voting public did — they weren’t featured in Judge Cuts! With that in mind, they did enter the quarterfinals as huge underdogs without much in the way of screen time or attention. We did think that they actually did a really great job with their performance, and narrowly missed getting put through with the Judges’ Save.

Of course, if you do want to make an argument against them going on again, you can claim that they don’t have much of a chance of advancing — or, you can say that acts like Lord Nil and The Sacred Riana faced some weird obstacles in their live-show performances and need another chance because of that. Yet, in the end we don’t have that much of a problem with Front Pictures advancing. Very few wild-card acts have a great chance of moving on and we’re just glad that we have a chance to see some more variety in the mix. There’s no way that AGT was going to pick another singing act after the majority of the semifinalists are singers; meanwhile, it would’ve looked weird if they were to choose someone who they criticized hard in the second round. We also think like some other acts, like Savitsky Cats, showed us all we’re going to see.
