Poldark season 5 spotlight: What should be next for Dwight Enys?

What could the future hold for Dwight Enys on Poldark season 5? This is the focus of this particular character spotlight, and we certainly do think that there is a lot to explore when it comes to this man. It’s pretty clear at the moment what we know about him. He’s kind, he’s caring, and he often will do everything that he can in order to make the lives of others better. Yet, he’s also not a pushover, and with this likely being the final season (at least for now), we are very curious as to what constitutes a happy ending here — if something can.

Note here that there are no spoilers ahead from the book series — these ideas are all speculative based on what we’ve seen from the character over the course of the TV series. Poldark season 5 will premiere in 2019.

Could he be a father again? – After going through the tragedy that he and Caroline went through, it’s a fair question since they’ve gone through so much trauma. We do think that it’s a distinct possibility the two do eventually welcome another child, though we also wouldn’t mind if they took in another child from elsewhere. At the center of Dwight is a desire to care for others, and this would very much suit his relationship.

Wrestling with morality – Dwight knows a considerable bit about what happened to Elizabeth, but how much is he going to be willing to say about it? As of right now, George is just of the belief that his wife died after childbirth; he doesn’t realize that his own jealousy towards Ross is what drove her to induce labor early.

Great friendship moments with him and Ross – It’s rather simple, but the bond that these two men share is one of the best things about the show. They care about each other and they’ll fight for each other — even though they have a different skill set. We like having scenes with the two of them as this fun, dynamic duo.

Are there any more long-term aspirations? – Does Dwight want to eventually be more than just the local doctor in Cornwall? It’s something that you do have to wonder about now given that we’re approaching the likely end. This is when questions of legacy are inevitably going to come to light.
