Grey’s Anatomy season 15 premiere could have a lot of comedy

Grey's Anatomy season 14

One of the things that we were hearing a lot of going into Grey’s Anatomy season 14 last year was that there was a real push for there to be a lighter tone.

Moving into season 15, meanwhile, we’re hearing a lot about it being the “season of love” — that’s something that we even discuss more in the video below! (Be sure to subscribe for more updates.) Yet, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the ABC drama is moving away entirely from the idea that the show will incorporate some humor into it. That’s something that Alex Blue Davis, who plays intern Casey, talked about in the context of the premiere to PopSugar recently:

“[The first episode is] funny. I really think it’s really funny. We were laughing at the table read a lot. There’s a lot happening.”

Hopefully, this is a sentiment that carries through to the remainder of the season, largely because when Grey’s Anatomy has a lot of tonal shifts, it makes almost every single thing about it all the more prominent. For example, this makes the funny moments even funnier and the serious moments all the more pronounced. It basically enables the dramatic moments to stand out more and for the show to get some great lighthearted moments that can be discussed and quoted later. (There were a few great ones in season 14, and hopefully that will continue through the entirety of the year.)

We do also think that humor does play itself well into the whole “season of love” theme, just because romance doesn’t always have to be super-serious. In a lot of great relationships there is a good bit of laughter and room to explore silliness. It helps to build chemistry and establish more of who people really are.
