Take Two episode 10 review: Did Sam, Eddie meet aliens in ‘Stillwater’?

Take Two episode 10 (entitled “Stillwater”) made a pretty good case on Thursday night as the best episode of the show so far.

After all, this is an episode that contained most of what we love about this sort of show! It begins with the premise — Sam and Eddie headed out to the title town of Stillwater after a young man asked for them to investigate his mother’s disappearance. Yet, here’s the twist: He thinks that aliens were responsible. As a matter of fact, a number of people in the community have claimed abductions of some shape or form. The case was bizarre, and throughout the episode both Rachel Bilson and Eddie Cibrian’s characters were forced to question (with the help of Berto and Monica) whether or not aliens were really responsible.

This episode felt very much like a vintage episode of Castle, one where there was this elaborate conspiracy that the main characters had to unravel — while questioning if they actually believed in aliens along the way. Sam was a little more inclined to go along with the idea, while Eddie resisted for most of the episode. When it started to look like the two were themselves abducted, however, he started to have more pause.

As it turned out, though, there was a reasonable explanation for everything — at least for the most part — as a local winemaker was behind everything after using a doctor and the “abductions” to cure people from afflictions caused by his own crop issue in the past. He was trying to spare himself problems down the line by coming up with an elaborate scheme that was so ridiculous that it just might work. For a while, it actually did until Sam and Eddie found the doctor responsible and were able to piece everything together. Maybe aliens are still out there, but they aren’t capturing people within the town of Stillwater.

CarterMatt Verdict

While Take Two episode 10 is not exactly the biggest episode of the season in terms of character development, there was a lot of really fun stuff that we saw throughout the hour. We learned more about Sam and Eddie’s feelings towards aliens, we went through a fun case, and there were some nice moments for Berto and Monica back in Los Angeles, as well. This is the sort of episode that justifies many more seasons of Take Two, provided that we are of course lucky enough to get them. This is fun, crime procedural TV!
