The Resident season 2 promo highlights heroism, adversity, and hardship

As we get closer and closer to The Resident season 2 coming on the air, clearly Fox is ramping up their promotional strategy in hopes of growing their audience.

If you take a look below, you can get a little bit more in the way of insight as to what’s coming up in the second season — at least thematically, as there isn’t anything in here that we would necessarily say is a huge plot spoiler. Instead, it’s more of a reminder that this is a show about doctors breaking the rules for the sake of their patients.

Is a hospital a charity or a business? This is one of the show’s central conflicts, mostly because you have some of the show’s younger characters in one corner, who typically consider themselves to be revolutionaries more so than anything else. However, at the same time you also have people like Dr. Bell, who is both a little more of a realist on the present-day climate of medicine and also completely jaded.

While maybe there will be a time in which health-care becomes a right for everyone, we’re not there right now and in order for Chastain to make money, they need to be able to work within the confines of insurance and specific treatments. It’s a difficult, complicated, and at times a corrupt situation. It’s a big part of the reason why Dr. Lane Hunter was able to get away with what she was during the first season.

We would like to think that the Lane situation would eventually allow Bell to get on the same page with many of the younger doctors like Conrad, but we’re probably asking too much of him to change overnight. He’s been used to doing things a certain way for so long and the actions of one doctor probably don’t change his philosophy on patients all that much. There’s going to be many obstacles that keep him from ever seeing a different perspective, but we are only moving into the second season here so maybe there is a little wiggle room for him to grow as the show goes on.
