Yellowstone season 2 production already underway following finale

Yellowstone

The Yellowstone season 1 finale may have only recently come on the air, but today we come bearing some other big news on season 2. Production on the latest batch of episodes is already underway, and that is clearly a way to hit the ground running and follow up on what has been some tremendous success for the network.

Going into season 1, it was hard to know just how Yellowstone was going to fare. Reviews via critics were somewhat mixed and the Paramount Network was somewhat new at the time of the launch. They were still working on building a library of programming that people could get behind and leaving the Spike brand behind. Yet, this is a series that may have accelerated the network’s growth in some unexpected ways. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, this is a series that brought more than 5 million multi-platform views an episode. That makes it one of the top basic cable series of the year in that measure — it’s not on the level of The Walking Dead, but it’s still pretty outstanding.

By starting season 2 production when they have, the producers may be looking to get a lot of work done before the winter weather starts to get really harsh. This allows them a chance to also get the work done far in advance and give the network a little bit more of an opportunity in order to be flexible with premiere dates. Personally, we do think that this is still a series best suited for the summer months, but we’re sure that it benefits them to have some options as to what they want to do.

For now though, we don’t expect things story-wise to change all that much. This is going to be the same Yellowstone that you came to enjoy the first time.
