MasterChef season 9 episode 16 video: A Gordon Ramsay cook-off and more

MasterChef season 8 episode 17

MasterChef season 9 episode 16 is airing on Fox Wednesday night, and with there only being eight contestants left, things have to get more intense!

If the competition itself wasn’t intense, there’s also this: Having to compete against Gordon Ramsay himself. For at least one challenge in the upcoming two-hour block on Wednesday, the remaining home cooks are going to have to cook alongside the famed chef, who is probably going to be both an inspiration and a reminder of how far so many of them have to go. He can certainly be intimidating, but we like to think that at this point in this season, most of the home cooks are used to having him around.

If nothing else, having Gordon cooking always makes for some very-good TV and we know that there are plenty of people within the competition itself who are more than aware of this.

So what else can you expect from this particular episode? Well, the video below also hints that at one point, we’ll see Joe Bastianich raise a question to one of the home cooks: Why did you not try pasta before coming? It is an interesting question, especially now that we’re in this era where there is both a MasterChef and then also a pre-MasterChef where contestants have to prepare for anything and everything that could come at them during the competition itself. Both are certainly important in their own way.

By the end of these two hours, don’t be shocked if we lose another two home cooks and the competition is seriously whittled down yet again. Given that there’s only so much time until the Fox fall season begins, it’s almost necessary to have so many two-hour episodes from here on out. Now that we know the contestants and are invested, these episodes really fly by.
