NCIS: New Orleans season 5: Necar Zadegan to play new female agent
According to a new report coming in right now via Entertainment Weekly, Necar Zadegan of Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce has been brought in as a new agent named Hannah Khoury. She’s going to take a high-ranking position on the team after Pride’s near-death experience (at least so we hope) in the season 4 finale. While she is replacing Shalita Grant in the cast, we don’t think the intention in bringing her on is to make her just another version of Sonja Percy. She’s going to be her own character with her own unique characteristics. She’s done a lot of work all over the world, and feels a little bit closer to a Nick Torres or a Ziva David when it comes to some of her field work.

Speaking via Entertainment Weekly in a new statement, here is what executive producer Christopher Sibler had to say about the casting:
“We were looking to bring someone new into the world of New Orleans so that we get to experience the city again through her eyes … She is someone with a much different skill set from the rest of our team. Hannah has an international flavor. She’s of Persian descent. And while she did grow up in the states, she’s traveled all over the world, working internationally for NCIS. She’s done more intelligence work.”
We know that NCIS: New Orleans likes to be able to bring in characters who are outsiders to the city — Tammy Gregorio is often affectionately called “New York” by some other members of the team with local ties. It’s a smart way for the series to ingratiate new viewers who choose to jump in and watch. In that way, they ensure that they’re constantly offering new entry points.
