Yellowstone enters season 2 with some of its strongest ratings yet

Yellowstone

Just in case you needed another sign that Yellowstone was a ratings titan for the Paramount Network, we’ve got it in the form of the season 1 finale ratings.

The numbers for Wednesday night are in, and they are impressive. The series generated a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic — but when you break it down beyond just that, this 0.4 was very close to becoming a 0.5. It’s the best overall demo rating for the entire series to date, and that includes the premiere episode.

Meanwhile, in terms of total viewers we saw the series bring in close to 2.4 million as a whole, which is a rather-impressive outing in its own right. This is the strongest viewer total for Yellowstone ever since the premiere, and that does set the stage quite well for season 2.

What we do love momentum-wise about where Yellowstone is right now is that it can prepare for the second season hoping that it can build its audience. We do think that the possibilities for this show are largely endless in that there are probably still viewers out there who haven’t seen or are aware of the show just yet. It’s got elements of Dallas, Longmire, and Empire all rolled into one fantastic package, and having a famous lead like Kevin Costner certainly helps its ability to draw viewers. It is the demo figures that we consider to be especially impressive given that Costner as a lead is one that you can easily associate with older viewers.

Given that the first season of Yellowstone is only about ten hours long (though technically it’s less than that when you factor in commercials), there is plenty of time for other people out there to get hooked on it without it feeling too overwhelming. While most shows decrease in the ratings from one season to the next, there is potential for something different to happen here.
