Blue Bloods season 9 episode 1: Lou Diamond Phillips’ role revealed!

Blue Bloods season 9 episode 1 is entitled “Playing with Fire,” and we do now have a few more details all about it — including Lou Diamond Phillips’ role! His casting was revealed back at the time that the first episode filmed, and all indications now suggest that he will be playing someone who is very much tied to what happened to Danny’s house back before the death of Linda.

“Playing with Fire” – Danny takes on a personal case involving a drug cartel member, Louis Delgado (Lou Diamond Phillips), who Danny believes is responsible for torching his house, and Erin is given a promotion in the DA’s office but finds herself in a challenging situation when both Danny and Jamie ask her for help with their investigations. Also, Frank and Jaime have a disagreement when Jamie refuses to stop riding with Eddie, on the ninth season premiere of BLUE BLOODS, Friday, Sept. 28 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Aasif Mandvi guest stars as Samar “Sam” Chatwal, Erin’s co-worker who has his eye on the open DA seat.

Seeing Phillips and Donnie Wahlberg go head-to-head should be a treat in this episode, and we hope that Delgado is the sort of character who we could see a few times this season as a Big Bad. We have never made our love for Phillips a secret and the more we can see him on our television screen the happier we will be.

As for some of the other stories, it’s nice to see Erin moving up the career ladder! Yet, her job is always tough given that the goals of the DA’s office do not always align perfectly with what is going on over at the NYPD. That’s something that she is going to have to manage, just as Jamie and Eddie are going to have to figure out how to put Frank’s mind at ease when it comes to the two of them continuing to ride together.
