Crime Dynamic Duos: Hawaii Five-0 (Steve / Danny) vs. Take Two (Sam / Eddie)

Dynamic Duos 3

Welcome to CarterMatt’s Crime Dynamic Duos 2018! This is the third year in which we’re doing this tournament, which is a way to honor some of the best crime-solvers in all of TV. This tournament runs throughout the month of August, and over the course of it we describe what makes certain pairs the perfect crime-fighting duo while also allowing you to share some of your thoughts on the competition! Each article is accompanied with a description and a poll; the winning duo will advance to the next round leading up to the winner being announced on September 1!

What are the rules of the tournament? Basically, all eligible shows have to still be in the midst of their run on TV as of August 1, and at least one character involved needs to be involved in solving crimes in some capacity. They can be a cop, a private investigator, a federal agent, a lawyer or a high-ranking officer. What matters is that they put plenty of bad people away.

Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Voting for Round 3 is open until Friday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time; round 4 will officially kick off on August 25, and at that point, we will have arrived to the final four pairs!

In today’s showdown, we are kicking off the third round with a longstanding favorite (and reigning runners-up) Steve and Danny of Hawaii Five-0 facing off against one of the biggest underdogs of the year in Sam and Eddie of Take Two.

Steve and Danny, Hawaii Five-0 (#1 seed) – Entering the tournament this year, we were fairly confident that Steve and Danny would have a great run, mostly because history has shown that they are incredibly difficult to beat. They’ve performed well in many of the other battles at CarterMatt over the years, they have a fantastic relationship, and they are on an extremely-popular series. They had some pretty solid competition in round two against Emily and Nick from Absentia, and still managed to win with around 66% of the total vote. That sets the pace now moving into a tough battle with an underdog who has fought hard for their place in the tournament.

Sam and Eddie, Take Two (#7 seed) – It takes a good bit to defeat two established crime shows in Chicago PD and NCIS: Los Angeles, but that is what Sam & Eddie have done so far! While it may have a slight advantage over other shows on the list this year in that it is currently on the air, we haven’t really noticed a huge correlation with that and Dynamic Duos successes in the past. We feel like the appeal lies mostly here in the fun relationship that the two have, the ever-improving quality of the stories, and also that there is a large ‘shipping audience for the two already, even if it is still not clear that Take Two is coming back for another season.

Your take

Let us know which duo you want to see advance in the comments below! Meanwhile, be sure to like CarterMatt on Facebook to get further updates moving forward on both Hawaii Five-0 as well as Take Two.

I can’t see the poll; what do I do? – If you are on mobile, scroll to the bottom of the page and click to view the non-AMP version. If that does not work, give the poll a moment to load! On some mobile browsers, it may take a moment.

How can I vote more than once? – If you are having trouble casting multiple votes, try switching your browser, your device, or visiting the page under private browsing or incognito mode. There should be many handy guides online explaining how to do so if interested.
