Last Man Standing season 7 spoilers: Krista Marie Yu to play exchange student

One of the news items that came out at Last Man Standing season 7’s TCA event recently was that there was going to be a foreign exchange student on board as a major character. Why are they going in this direction? Well, one major reason may be to fill the void at the Baxter home given that Eve (Kaitlyn Dever) is going to be away.

Now we know who is going to be playing this part! According to a new report coming in via TVLine, former Dr. Ken star Krista Marie Yu has been cast in the recurring role of Jen, who is from Hong Kong but studying in the United States.

The aforementioned site notes that you are going to get a chance to meet Jen in episode 4 of the season, when Vanessa convinces Mike to let her stay with the family while she completes her education. Jen is studying geology, and that helps for her and Vanessa to forge a bond.

We are very interested to see how Last Man Standing incorporates a character like this, especially since Jen is likely a very different sort of character than anyone else on the series. It’s a real chance to show a different perspective on both America and the Baxter family from someone who is a complete outsider. There should be some fun conflict that goes along with this, though hopefully the show isn’t just using this character to fill the void for when Eve isn’t there.
