The Affair season 5 premiere date hopes for Showtime drama
Let’s kick things off here, though, with a reminder that The Affair has already been renewed for another season. With that in mind, there’s at least no reason to worry about the immediate future. The unfortunate thing is that the fifth season is pegged as the final one for the series. This was never meant to be one with a super-long lifespan, so we really cannot be altogether shocked by the end coming on the horizon. We’re just glad that it lasted this long and Showtime continued to show faith and belief in the series. After all, we would argue that this current one is the best one that Showtime has put on the air since season 1.

As for when this final season will premiere, at the moment the network isn’t confirming anything — yet, we’re looking towards a start date at some point in 2019. We’d say that fall, by the latest, is when the series could come back. Now that we know that the endgame is near, it doesn’t make an enormous amount of sense for the network to wait forever in order to make that happen. Also, showrunner Sarah Treem already has some other projects in development, including a Hedy Lamarr story that is set to star Gal Gadot. It makes sense to wrap The Affair before moving over there, otherwise the final season could face a big delay. We just don’t want that because we want to see the final season really capture the momentum that the show had for most of the summer.
Hopefully, we will have a chance to dive into all of this a little bit more following either the end of the finale tonight or later this year, when discussion around the finale cools and we start to look ahead more.
