The Resident season 2 teaser: Hope and heartbreak

The Resident

As you prepare for The Resident season 2 to premiere on Fox a little bit later this fall, why not take a look at a new teaser all about what’s coming up?

Fox has released a couple new videos for the upcoming season, with the first one being a new compilation of various clips from what lies ahead, including a reminder that when the premiere airs, you are going to see an epic disaster brought on by some sort of storm. This is a medical-show staple in some ways to throw characters into an enormous disaster almost right away, and it’s ultimately a super-smart move to do it. This is a great way to test the mettle of some characters and see how they handle the most adversity imaginable. From an entertainment standpoint, it’s of course also a solid decision to put some people in a fairly-devastating spot. It feels weird to say that we all find characters in extreme situations compelling, but that is more or less where we are now.

As for the second video, this is more of an upbeat, personal clip featuring thank-yous from the various cast members to all of the fans who caught the first season the show. We do think that The Resident remains one of television’s bigger underdog stories. It didn’t necessarily dominate the headlines in its first season, but it got consistent ratings and also got creatively stronger as it went along. This is one of the reasons why we now have a chance to see a season 2. (We also do think that it’s fairly interesting to see actors act in a way that is totally different from their characters — a reminder that they are not one and the same.)
