Supergirl season 4 spoilers: Melissa Benoist on Kara – Batwoman meeting

There is a good bit to be excited about on Supergirl season 4, but the Kara – Batwoman meeting is up there. These are two iconic DC Comics characters coming into the same orbit, and even if we don’t know too much about them yet, this is still exciting. We’re not sure how the two will get along, and also whether or not the door will be open for some more crossovers between the two shows coming up down the road. (It would be nice to see Supergirl have a more natural companion, given that there is a lot of legwork that has to be done for it to cross over with the series set on Earth-1.)

What we can say right now with some confidence is that Supergirl star Melissa Benoist seems to be very much excited to learn what’s coming next for these characters. Speaking via Newsweek, here is a little bit of what she had to say:

“Throughout the seasons, Kara’s had a few funny quips about Batman and her opinions on him – she thinks vigilantes are nuts … So I’m excited to see her meet Batwoman, and see how they interact.”

Personally, we foresee the interaction being somewhat similar to what it is between Oliver Queen and Barry Allen. Batwoman doesn’t have the sort of powers Supergirl does, so she has to find some other ways to take down bad guys. We also don’t think that she will be as joyous as Kara is, at least some of the time, when going about her duties. There is almost more of a burden being a vigilante since you know that you have to do most of your work in secret, and you don’t have the opportunity to be this sort of fun, celebrated superhero. It is immensely more of a challenge.
