Animal Kingdom season 3 episode 12 video: Smurf’s latest play
In the sneak peek, you can see Ellen Barkin’s character continuing to do some of what she does best — threaten and manipulate. That includes her showing up to places unannounced, demanding information, and also questioning loyalty. Is she really getting screwed over by someone she supposedly trusts, or at least someone who claims they are smart enough to know to not screw her over? That’s the question that you have to wonder here — just like you are left to wonder whether or not J is trying to screw over Smurf in secret with real-estate holdings.

As we start to reach the end of this season, it does feel like Smurf’s empire is in danger — even though she is out of prison and is therefore in much better shape than she was for most of the season, she’s becoming aware in the process that while she was away, some of her so-called friends tried to take advantage of her. It’s easy to understand why. Maybe they thought that she was never getting out and they could have some fun with her money because of that. Or, maybe they just felt as though she would be so preoccupied with other things after finding her way out of jail that she wouldn’t spend too much time looking backwards.
Well, here’s the thing about Smurf — one way or another, she finds a way to know about everything. She’s very good at getting information she shouldn’t be able to get and then acting on it. Yet, there does come a point where many of her threats reek of desperation, and we do think that we are now getting close to that point.
